For a greener Festival
Did you know that the FMG was one of the first events to take a green turn in Gatineau, over 16 years ago, with the management of the residual materials generated on its site?
With environmental protection at heart, the FMG team is constantly looking for solutions and actions to reduce its impact on the environment.
Pursuing the objective of reducing its ecological footprint, various actions are implemented in the planning of the Festival. Here are a few examples:
- The Green squad, made up of dedicated volunteers, ensures the cleanliness of the site and educates festival-goers of the importance of it and how to properly dispose of their garbage, recycling and compost;
- Drinking water points are accessible to festival-goers, volunteers, workers and artists, which promotes the use of reusable bottles;
- The event's partners and suppliers are mostly local. Thus, the FMG optimizes local and responsible consumption as much as possible.
Founded in 1999, this non-profit organization's mission is to create and promote innovative actions, as well as to provide a space for dialogue in order to improve the quality of the environment, health and well-being. To fulfill its mission, the Network offers training and support to organizations that want to take an eco-friendly approach to their operations.
This cohort will allow the FMG to assess and limit its environmental impact, in addition to finding new solutions to reduce environmental effects.
This will all be done by evaluating the aspects that have the biggest most impact, to then take action where it will make a real difference.
Do you want to make a difference in the environmental involvement of the FMG? Remember to bring your reusable water bottle and come by public transport to the 35th edition, which will take place from September 1 to 5, 2022!
