NEWS BRIEF - The Quebec government is calling for the cancellation of all festivals, as well as sporting and cultural events planned in the province until August 31.
The FMG (Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Festival) is scheduled to take place from September 3rd to 7th, 2020. In light of this announcement, we are studying various options as well as evaluating the impacts it will have on our operations, namely on the set up of the site which normally begins a few weeks before the Festival opens.
Although the impact of this decision on the tourism industry is fraught with consequences, particularly in terms of the financial impact for the event organisation industry, for artists, for suppliers and for the entire cultural community, we prioritize first and foremost everyone's health and safety.
As announced earlier this week on our social media by our beloved spokesperson, Patrice Bélanger, the FMG team is studying different scenarios allowing the event to take place, whether in its original form or in a format adapted to the circumstances. We are following the daily evolution of the situation and continue to work on our contingency plans in the hope of offering Gatineau residents and all our festival-goers an opportunity to celebrate together, in September, our exemplary resilience and solidarity.
