Gatineau - It's sunrise. The clouds are slowly parting, the dew is shining on the grass, everything is calm. We recall the shooting stars we saw the day before in the company of les Cowboys Fringants and, all of a sudden, the first blast of a burner can be heard. Then, without warning, the bewitching melody of a piano adds an inexplicable beauty to this peaceful atmosphere. Beautiful? Yes. Uplifting? Yes. Unique? Certainly. Especially when, in a breathtaking display, a dozen multicoloured hot-air balloons surround us and take flight amidst the soaring melodies of the piano. Welcome to Parc de la Baie on Saturday, September 4 at 6:45 a.m., when Cœur de pirate presents her instrumental album Perséides as part of the first of the FMG's two Hydro-Québec Musical matinees.

Cœur de pirate - Saturday, September 4

It's been twelve years since Béatrice Martin first appeared in our lives as Cœur de pirate. Twelve years during which the singer-songwriter and pianist has sold over a million albums. With Perséides, Béatrice Martin returns to the stage with her now famous melancholic way of thinking and delivering emotion. For the first time in this intimate format, Coeur de pirate will perform solo pieces from her album Perséides, as well as offering a few selected reinterpretations of several of her hits in instrumental form.

Fred Pellerin - Sunday, September 5

The second inaugural presentation of the Hydro-Québec Musical Matinees will feature songs by Québec's greatest contemporary storyteller, Fred Pellerin. This solo performance, with songs from his show Je dirai presque rien, will combine the charm of Fred's poetry, words and notes of guitar, mandolin and harmonica with the excitement of a hot air balloon flight. Will this be Fred Pellerin's only festival appearance in 2021? Quite possibly...

"This great new addition to our programming will allow us to merge two of the main facets of our event, namely culture and hot air balloons. The music of these two artists will lend itself perfectly to the beauty and special atmosphere of a morning flight. Our program director Marie-Claude D'Aoust has pulled off a remarkable feat by orchestrating the arrival of these two exceptional Quebec artists in this new concept! This is a unique event in an intimate setting that you don't want to miss, since the capacity will be limited to 800 people per performance," explains FMG Executive Director, Sandra Cloutier.

The complete program will be unveiled on July 6, and the tickets for each show will go on sale on July 8.

From September 2nd to 6th, 2021, our pilots will reignite their burners, our engineers will switch on their stage lights, and the entire organizing committee will be waiting with open arms (from a distance of 2 meters, of course) to welcome you to the Parc de la Baie!
