Major annoucement about FMG’s amusement rides

News releases | March 21, 2019

The Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Festival organization (FMG) is pleased to welcome Beauce Carnaval as its new amusement park partner. This well-established company from the Beauce region is a leader in Canada’s amusement industry, featuring more than 50 rides and a huge assortment of games of skill.

“Beauce Carnaval Inc. is delighted to team up with the Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Festival. As a member of the amusement industry in Quebec and Ontario since 1953, our main objective is to provide safe entertainment. We are happy to offer you a whole new assortment of rides. We hope that we will live up to your expectations, and we want you to know that we will be working for you and with you,” explained Beauce Carnaval representative Véronique Vallée.

For more than 20 years, Amusements Spectaculaires (AMSP) was the Festival’s exclusive partner for amusement rides at the parc de la Baie site. As a result of last summer’s incidents, FMG decided to revisit the situation and reassess the partnership with its provider.

It was agreed that an action plan would be drawn up and implemented by AMSP. That plan was to include clear and documented undertakings in regard to new training for staff, improved signage and explanations of the safety rules, and ongoing inspections of every ride. With a renewed sense of confidence following these commitments by AMSP, in late 2018 discussions began around a new agreement. At the end of January, Amusements Spectaculaires announced that it was selling off its assets and its contracts. As a result, FMG began negotiating with another amusement ride provider that would be able to offer equivalent services in Quebec.

FMG festival-goers can look forward to a renewed and safe amusement ride park. Beauce Carnaval is eager to surprise thrill-seekers and bring big smiles to the faces of kids of all ages.
